A Bridal Day in Chicago

it was all a dream

This day trip could not have been more perfect.
I took my 3 bestfriends + my mom with me to my bridal appointment in Chicago to try on wedding dresses. I’ll go ahead and say this now; I said YES to the dress!! So that alone was a success. But the day just turned into something so much more than I could have imagined. I’m still floating just thinking about it.

Also, I must say, I tried my hardest to capture this stuff with my camera but I was too hyped to fidget with settings so most of these are iPhone photos..
I’m guilty.

BHLDN

Our first stop was at BHLDN.
Side note: did you know it’s pronounced “Be-Holden”?
We walked up to the stunning store front on Walton st and entered in the giant revolving door. We were greeted in the main room and then directed up the giant marble circle stairs to the bridal hall.

My stylist came in and we started flipping through the dresses and pulled some beautiful ones to try. She led us down a hallway and brought us into my fitting room.
It was huge..
It was beautiful..
It was everything I dream of my house to look like. Vintage rugs, wood walls, a velvet settee, it was perfect. They brought us sparking Brut Rosé on a gold platter and we began the adventure.

I found my dress!!
The whole experience was so much more intense than I was expecting. Mom started crying before we even took our coats off. Sarah was tearing up when I walked out the first time. My stylist and her assistant were both a complete blast. I really could not have had a better time here. And I reeeeally can’t wait to show off that beautiful dress I got!

DEVEREAUX

After a successful first stop, we went for some pre-dinner drinks.
We met up with my Uncle who lives in Chicago and works in the culinary arts industry. Let’s just say.. he knows the best places to go in Chicago. We went to Devereaux; a rooftop lounge. We walked down an unmarked alley to a black velvet rope by a door marked “Devereaux”. We just blindly followed my Uncle through this door and to a back elevator. The elevator floors were marked: “1, 2, 18”.
So.. we went to the 18th floor.
The doors open to this beautiful dim-lit bar with floor to ceiling windows. It felt like some underground NYC vip lounge.

We ordered some drinks and headed out to the rooftop.
The views are stupid amazing.
There’s a heated pool and a ton of lounge chairs + tables.
Just take a look for yourself…

(my mom is the cutest ever)

SOMERSET

After our drinks, we headed down the elevator to the second floor and walked out to this 2 story restaurant that could not have been more perfect.
Total art deco vibes.
The second recommendation from my Uncle and another perfect recommendation at that. We made our way to our table and ordered another round of drinks.

They brought us our menus and when I look down.. I see “Congratulations Adrianne!” printed on my menu!! What?! Where have I just walked in to?!
-
I have to say.. I’m proud of myself. I tried some new food that I swore I’d never eat. I tried:
Marinated Kampachi Crudo
Roasted Venison Loin
And Venison Sausage.
Totally out of my element but so good! Then they brought out a small plate with some bon-bons and on the plate, written in chocolate, was,
”yes to the dress!”
I can’t make this stuff up you guys.
I was treated wayyyy too good in this place.

I think I’ll be riding this high for a while.
It’s been 12 hours and I’m still on cloud 9.
I’m so thankful for this whole trip.
A huge thank you to my mother for being my bestfriend
and to my Uncle Greg for making this day a total dream.
And I really couldn’t have had this much fun without my 3 bestfriends.
You all are so amazing.
