It’s a day for all things green and brewed.

What started out as a very religious holiday (and still is in parts of the world), has now become a day of celebration through feasts, pub crawls, and parades. The history of St. Patrick’s Day goes back to the fifth century. Saint Patrick is the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland. He was born in Roman Britain. At the age of 16, he was kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a slave. He later escaped, but returned to Ireland and was credited with bringing Christianity to its people. It’s a common belief that Saint Patrick used the 3 leaves of a shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Spirit).

In current times, it’s common to go out on St. Patrick’s Day and see lots of green - from peoples clothing to an entire river in Chicago. It’s typical for people to host pub-crawls during the nearest weekend and cities hosting grand parades.

While our world may being going through a pandemic and social-distancing, it doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate this St. Patrick’s Day in a very green fashion at home! We’ve got some ideas to make the most of the day with some green eats + drinks to make right here in your home.
