Weekending | pt. 1
We’ve lived in Memphis for 5 months now!
But most of that time has been spent traveling back and forth to Illinois for wedding planning, our actual wedding, and then holidays. So when my girls came to visit for a weekend, we decided to make the best of it and finally check out some of the places on my list.
-
It definitely did not disappoint and every time I get the chance to wander around my new city, I end up loving it so much more. We spent all day on Saturday meandering around; from noon to 1am! We shopped at some local markets, ate some incredible food, and tried allll the cocktails.

So since it was so amazing, I wanted to share some of my new favorite places here in Memphis so that if anyone happens to travel to our gem in the midsouth, they’d have a little list of places to see.
CROSSTOWN CONCOURSE
Crosstown Concourse is like nothing I’ve ever seen. It’s purely unique. You can do so much here from walking through an art gallery to getting your nails done all in its 14 story building. Crosstown used to be an old Sears building until renovated in 2015 to become the spectacular place it is now. And to top it all off, parking is free + it’s dog friendly!
THE LIQUOR STORE
One of my all-time favorite places in Memphis is The Liquor Store (an entertaining name as well). With a very tropical interior and small-gathering vibes, this restaurant is a go-to. They have impeccable all-day brunch cocktails and fully stocked bar. But besides the obvious liquor they have, the food is not to be ignored. They have an all-day breakfast menu and a classic lunch menu. I recommend the chicken street tacos! Yum!
THE HU. ROOF
Hands down the best place to take in the beauty of Memphis. Sitting at the top of the Hu. Hotel, the Hu. Roof is a refreshing cocktail lounge with small plates to get your late-night grub. Their cocktail list is classy and top-notch. There is seating inside and outside on the roof with views of the river, the bridge, and the rest of downtown. And if you’re lucky, you might get to see the light display on the bridge change in the evenings!
MOLLIE FONTAINE LOUNGE
Where do I start?! The Mollie Fontaine lounge located in Memphis’ Victorian Village is like nothing you’ve seen before. Mollie Fontaine was a rich socialite, daughter of a well-known entrepreneur in the city. This house was a wedding gift from her father, right across the street from her parents house (which is now a museum). The house has now been converted into a “speakeasy” type lounge. It’s definitely indescribable and probably my favorite place in Memphis so-far.
THE HU. HOTEL
When I first saw the Hu. Hotel, my jaw dropped. Situated in the heart of the city and near the river, this hotel is stunning in every way possible. The lobby is purely modern and cozy. There’s also a beautiful bar/cafe right in the lobby.
