Weekending | pt. 2

Tacos, piano bars, and rock climbing.

The past 6 months has been jam packed of new resturants and Memphis adventures. We’ve had friends and family come to visit quite a few times in the past few months so we’ve tried a lot of new places. Here’s a list of some of our most noteworthy visits in our gritty little city.

Gibson’s Donuts

Gibsons will most-likely never leave my “favorites” lists. Dylan and I literally cannot get enough of this place. This donut shop is always packed and it reminds me of the 60’s when everyone came in for their morning donut and coffee in a rush and the workers are literally throwing donuts across the counter. Plus these donuts could win any award around the globe. Bet on it.

Babalu’s Tapas + Tacos

Babalu’s has a couple locations, my favorite is the one in Overton Square. This trendy resturant is a dream. Let’s just say ‘the best table-side guac I’ve ever had’ and I hate guacamole… so that says a lot. Plus their tacos we’re pure heaven. We sat on the covered patio and even got to bring our pup along with us.

Shelby Farms Stables

There are not many things that I love more than riding horses. I went from riding them every week to not even petting one for 6 years.. it’s been depressing tbh. But just 4 minutes from our house is the Shelby Farms Stables so when the girls came to visit, we laced up our boots and went for a ride. It was an incredibly beautiful ride through the trees and I really contemplated on how I could fit my horse in my car and steal him…

The Liquor Store

MY FAVORITE SLICE OF HEAVEN. The Liquor Store is literally out of a dream - especially during the holidays, I mean look at this decor. They currently have a mixologist from NYC covering their winter cocktail menu and each of them come in a crazy mug. I was almost in tears from happiness. And to top all of this off, I’ve literally fallen asleep dreaming of their street tacos. Just kill me now and sent me to the Liquor Store heaven.

High Point

Dylan had been asking to go visit this rock climbing center for a while so we finally did it on our anniversary - and we both fell in love with the place. I grew up occasionally rock climbing but this was Dylan’s first time. And he was a pure natural. It only took him one try to get to the top. We’re both eager to get trained in belaying and spot each other. This place is a total blast!

Coastal Fish Company

Let me start by saying I hate every type of food that comes from the water - but this place is still a top-tier favorite. They do have a very limited “land-lovers” menu but it was still phenomenal. This photo above is of their butternut squash appetizer and I was basically in tears because it was so good. It’s also located right on the water at Shelby Farms so it’s stunning during the sunset.

The Butcher Shop

And now moving to the other side of the menu, The Butcher Shop takes the steak game to a new level. It’s exactly what you expect and that’s a great thing when it comes to steak. Their loaded potatoes were fire too.

Alchemy

On the last girls visit, we were looking high and low for a good place to get cocktails and a light snack. We landed at Alchemy in Cooper Young and it was so good. This charcuterie board is literally what dreams are made of - every single thing on this board was crave-worthy.

The Zebra Lounge

And now for the big favorite. When the girls were here, we hopped from place to place trying to find fun places to be at and we found ourselves continuously at The Zebra Lounge. It’s a piano bar located in Overton Square and the guy playing live music was hit. It’s a quaint place where you can get your standard cocktails and end up staying their for hours.
