Beaded Spider

DIY

This was something I saw on Pinterest that really caught my attention. And as someone with pounds of beads and no reason to own that many, I love any inspiration that will put them to good use! I didn’t really know how to best approach this idea (or if I would even enjoy having a sparkly spider hanging around) but I kept on going and now it might be one of my favorite creations in a long time. I literally ran out to Dylan to show him my newest prized possession :’)

I used headpins for the legs and the main body. I created 8 legs total. I strung on the “head” bead first.

Then after I closed the headpins with a little eyelet, I strung on each of the legs, alternating sides. I finished it off with the “body” bead and created another eyelet, as close to that last bead as possible.

I struggled with getting the legs to stay flat/straight out to the sides so I ended up applying some super glue to the connection site. Once the glue was dried, I was able to bend and manipulate the legs into their creepy curly shapes.

This was very much a “trust the process” type of thing. It did not look like it was going to be very cute or very proportionate at all until I got it glued and shaped up.
