Our First Anniversary
One year ago, Dylan and I stood next to a pond behind a beautiful glass house surrounded by our very loved friends and family and we promised to love each other until the end. It was by far my most vivid and favorite day of life. We didn’t take a honeymoon and neither of us are super picky about how we celebrate - we just want to be with each other.
So for our first anniversary together, we decided to just take a full day to be with each other, explore, and try new things. Here’s how our day panned out:
We started the day with Starbucks and driving to the Pink Palace here in Memphis. I’ve read about this place but neither of us have seen it. It was so beautiful and they just so happened to be setting up for a wedding. We strolled the grounds and took an annoying amount of photos of each other.
Connected to the palace is the museum. They had a ton of exhibits set up. The first one of a walk through the history of Arctic explorers. The next was full of dinosaurs and skeletons of neat animals. Then we found one about Memphis’ history with healthcare and medicine. That one was very intriguing. And they even had a vintage Piggly Wiggly store that you could walk through (the branding back then was on point).
After the Museum, we took a break in the park with our pup. I poured some wine in a water bottle, brought a picnic mat and laid out in the sun.
Then we ventured onto rock climbing. We went to High Point, somewhere Dylan and I drive past everyday and always say how badly we want to go. This place blew my mind. I used to be very into rock climbing as a kid. Dylan has never rock climbed. So I was shocked at the size of this place and Dylan was rendered speechless. Somehow I sucked and couldn’t get past a certain point. But Dylan got to the top on his second try and now talks about wanting to go back every single minute.
We ended our day with a reservation downtown at Catherine & Marys. I’ve always wanted to try this place but wanted to wait for a special occasion. I cannot rave about this place enough. The atmosphere was perfect for us. The food was deliciously bizarre and the cocktails were top notch. We were treated like royals and I definitely felt like I was in a scene of Gossip Girl.

So here’s to one year of being Dylans wife and another year of endless love for this guy.
